Gotta disagree. Tribalism allows the possibility of an "other" joining your group. Racism does not. Tribalism says others are culturally inferior. Racism says they are literally inferior. It's like the difference between a petting zoo and a slaughter house: neither is freedom, but one is far superior to the other.

2. Capitalists promoted race because it made workers compete against each other. An argument could be made that capitalists had less need for it once they started sending jobs to Mexico, India, China, etc. I would agree that they no longer need it, but they're unwilling to pay the cost of ending racism. I'll have a post tomorrow or the day after that touches on this.
