As a longtime Buffy fan, I completely agree. There's an extra reason to give a new name to a new character: when Whedon named her, Buffy's name was part of the joke--Buffy was a nickname for spoiled rich girls. A sequel should be set today, imho, and the Slayer should have a name that a contemporary girl would have.
