As I have noted a couple of times now, I was referring to the original release of the 1619 Project. I understand they have addressed some of their criticism in the book release. Based on the examples I've seen, they minimize him and say nothing about the ways in which he disagreed with their identitarian take.

I don't believe in race, so it's silly to say I like or dislike any race. I love black people like Ida Wells, Du Bois, King, Malcolm X, Adolph Reed, and Barbara Fields. Neoliberal black people don't impress me any more than any other race's neoliberals.

Since you missed my clarification when it was a footnote, I revised the second paragraph: "Yet Douglass was left out of the original version of the 1619 Project for at least two reasons. [UPDATE: I hear Douglass is mentioned more often in the later 1619 Project book, but from the quotes I've seen, they still downplay his importance.]"
