Citizens United was an awful decision, but it was about donating money, not about speech.

Disagreement is not obtuseness, or if it is, we are equally obtuse. Different people decide different terms are slurs, just as they decide what are hate crimes. Left unchecked, the power of censors invariably grows, as we can see by the constant efforts to ban books like The Grapes of Wrath from public education.

The substance you seem to miss is that under free speech, there's little use for judges, so there's less possibility of judicial abuse.
