There’s no one named Mississippi in the series, and the black woman who becomes Captain Confederacy is introduced in the very first issue—she’s the reason the Captain Confederacy propaganda program falls apart.

Similarly, I don’t think I’ve ever called myself a leftist. Socialism is outside the right-left capitalist spectrum, which is why polls showed that Bernie Sanders cut into Trump’s base and Clinton did not.

And I don’t think I’ve ever called myself an ally. Left-identitarians use that term for people of different identity groups who share a belief in dividing everyone by social identity. Socialists are concerned with the entire working class—Marx said, “Workers of the world, unite” not “divide yourself into groups based on sex, race, nationality, or religion and fight.”
