Don’t give Protestants a pass. Serfs were slaves, and when the land changed hands, so did the serfs. It’s a bit striking that the US ended slavery and Russia ended serfdom at the same time.

I am always appalled by those Christians who say they don’t have to do the right thing because Paul said doing the right thing should be voluntary.
