Free enterprise is a tricky term--it seems like everyone means something a little different by it. Free market socialism is possible with worker co-ops and businesses that are actively managed by their owners—socialism is more concerned with the distribution of wealth than with the processes of creating it.

Under the American system, almost all of the capital is controlled a small group of people, so capitalism seems the appropriate name to me.
