Hitler was not elected: "In January 1933, as the conservatives found it impossible to form a stable parliamentary majority without the NSDAP, they proposed a cabinet in which the Nazis would be represented"

After that, Hindenberg made Hitler chancellor. On the first day that he took power, he began a program of censorship.

After he became chancellor, he held a an election in which he did not allow any meaningful competition. It was as meaningful as any other one-party election.
