You and Howard begin with identitarian assumptions that I do not share, and therefore I don’t expect to be able to show you that you are seeing how the effects of the history of racism are perpetuated by the limited class mobility that has kept the racial proportions of black and white poverty the same since King’s day—if “white privilege” was a factor today, the proportion would’ve changed in favor of whites.
