How does the fact that the racial proportions of police killing and US poverty are identical make it easier to ignore the way in which our law enforcement organizations function like repressive paramilitary forces? Those forces are class-based, so pointing out the class nature of police killings should make the similarities easier to see.

Further, if racism was an important factor, the FBI would’ve planted a white man among the Proud Boys. White racists don’t like having black people in their groups.

As for explaining the disproportionate nature of poverty, that’s easy if you understand class: Class mobility in the US is awful for everyone. Today and in King’s day, there were twice as many white people as black in poverty. If the white poor had skin privilege, their proportion in poverty would’ve goen down in the last fifty years. Yet it has not changed.
