I also wonder when people announce they're not racist. Some of them are racist AF—both David Duke of the KKK and Derrick Bell the father of Critical Race Theory insisted they were racial realists, not racists.

Though no one is sure what the IAT measures, it measures something—and it's important to stress that when it shows a bias, that bias may be no more meanngful than a preference for brunettes instead of blondes. In my case, I can never say I'm not racist because the IAT shows I have a bias for black folks, which makes sense if you know my history. But I wish it showed I was among the large minority of white people who have no discernible bias.

As for the state, it is many things, but what underlies them all is that it is capitalist.
