I assume INGSOC was inspired by National Socialism, which is a contradiction in terms. The Nazis chose the name because they knew socialism was popular with workers, but if they had meant to be socialists, they never would’ve been supported by industrialists.

Totalitarians love private property because that way they get to own as much of a nation’s wealth as possible. Look at how much the 1% own in the US.
