I completely agree that people make assumptions based on race. So does your ex-girlfriend—she assumed this had something to do with race.

Mind you, I agree that’s a possibility she has to consider in our racialized world. But based on the lack of evidence, she’s assuming the encounter was racial when it could’ve been due to other things.
