I did create a second account for a couple of days. Setting it up was only a minor nuisance—you need a different email address and/or a different phone number if you want to use Stripe, and the easiest way I found to switch between Medium accounts was to use two twitter accounts for logging in. But Medium won't let you monetize a new account until you get 100 followers, and while I might've gotten them quickly, there's no way to know. Since I was getting frustrated by the limits of my pseud anyway, I decided to out myself and close the new account.

But I would recommend two accounts to anyone who's tempted. Specializing has its virtues.
