I wanted to find out your assumptions. Too many disagreements are fought at a superficial level when the real issues are deeper.

1. Tribalism and racism are very different. People can join and leave tribes, and tribes are based on culture. Racism is a much more recent concept and it's all about physical markers that were irrelevant in the past and are becoming irrelevant again.

2. Slavery created race and racism, and capitalism has perpetuated it. The point is exploitation. Hatred is only a byproduct.

I'll also note that the US's right is becoming more multicultural, a trend that most liberal identitarians have yet to grasp.

3. Identitarianism is ancient, but the race reductionism of people like Bell and Crenshaw was designed after the civil rights era to avoid discussion of capitalism. The Ivy League exists to serve Wall Street, not the rest of us, as should be obvious from the number of rich families that send their children to those schools. And as journalism has increasingly become the domain of Ivy Leaguers, it promotes the current upper-class ideology.
