I was referring to small-d democrats, as opposed to authoritarians, but the Democratic Party has an ideology, as can be seen when people change from one party to the other.

A social identity is something society puts on you. It’s very hard to change a social identity. An ideology is something you believe, and unless you put it on your t-shirt, society can’t know it by looking at you or hearing you speak.

That many Jews emigrated to other places than Palestine shows Jewish thought on the issue is diverse.
