I will not validate the Nazi idea that Jews are a race. If antisemitism was not older than the idea of race, I would happily agree that the Holocaust was about race. But Hitler just gave a new rationalization for an old hatred. If I agree it was about race because Hitler said it was, I have to agree earlier massacres about Satan because earlier antisemites said it was.

Was the Rwandan genocide about race? Was the Armenian? Or are these all examples of ethnic hatred?
