I'd say no one should be able to define whiteness because it's a stupid concept and if I was in charge, the race question would be removed from the census.

That said, is there any evidence that a majority of MENA people want their own racial category? So far as I can tell, it's like "Latinx", something that looks much more popular than it actually is because of the people who insist on it online.
