I'm guessing the problem is the country market doesn't see Beyoncé committing to country. I gotta say the song doesn't sound black to me in any way--it just sounds like country pop.

As for Tracey Chapman, she was marketed as alt-folk or art folk, not country. The music business's divisions are about how you're sold, not what you play.
