Interesting, because we can point to a great many poor and middle-class white people who are not immune to disparity and privilege, and we can point to a great many privileged people of color who are entirely immune to disparity and privilege. This should not be news: rich black slaveowners like William Ellison and the widow C. Richards did not treat their slaves any better than rich white ones did. It is ironic that John Casor, the first black man legally enslaved for life in North America had a black master, Anthony Johnson.
