Most Jews rejected Zionism before the Holocaust. Those who emigrated far preferred places like the US.

The Palestinians are the descendants of the Jews who never left. They adopted Arabic just as Ashkenazi and Sephardi Jews adopted European languages.

To be clear, I agree Israel has a right to exist. In its UN borders.
