Most of your response is a matter of interpretation, so I'll simply say I disagree, but Derrick Bell was not a civil rights lawyer for most of his life. He was only one for the best part of his life, which lasted about a decade. Then he retreated to the very privileged world of the Ivy League to develop his class-blind notions of privilege.
