No one said Jews enjoyed the same experiences as "real Americans". The point is that Jews experienced the legal privileges of whiteness when the law gave white privileges to those who were legally white and denied them to those who were not.

Ethnic bigotry is awful, as white Mormons and Catholics and atheists can assure you, but it did not make anyone not-white.
