Of course Jews were the majority in Palestine—or at least, in parts of Palestine. People tend to erase the Greek inhabitants. Then many Jews converted to Christianity in the first and second centuries, and then many Jews and Christians converted to Islam. That's why, if genetics matter, today's Palestinians have a stronger claim to the land than Ashkenazim.
