Privilege is something that’s desirable, yet I’ve never met anyone who wanted the privilege of a poor white person. Yet I’ve met many people who wanted the privilege of rich black people.
One of the clear ways poor white people are not privileged: they are as likely to be killed by the police as poor black people. Similarly, middle-class and richer black people are as unlikely to be killed by the police as middle-class and richer white people because the police almost exclusively kill poor people. The exceptions are so few that they do not change the statistics: the US racial proportions of police killings and poverty for white and black people are identical.
No, this is not denying that racists still exist. This is denying the notion that privilege is always black and white in the 21st century.
