“Sexism and racism should not only be infuriating to the people subjected to it.” Of course. The person who gave feminism its name was a white male socialist, Charles Fourier. Karl Marx famously wrote, “Labor in a white skin cannot emancipate itself where it is branded in a black skin.” Socialists have always lead the fight against sexism and racism. But the words of another socialist are relevant:

“…back of the problem of race and color, lies a greater problem which both obscures and implements it: and that is the fact that so many civilized persons are willing to live in comfort even if the price of this is poverty, ignorance, and disease of the majority of their fellowmen.” — W.E.B. Du Bois

I completely agree the Ivies are racist and sexist. But if they weren’t, the wealth gap between the rich and the rest of us would continue to grow. Economic justice does not trickle down.
