Sometimes the right and the left say similar things with different implications. I would be very suspicious of people who say we should ignore both class and race.

I will continue to agree with James Baldwin on this issue. So long as white people insist on seeing themselves as white, black people have to see themselves as black.

Just realized that while Baldwin was not a socialist, his take isn't all that different than what Marx said a century before: "Labor in the white skin can never free itself as long as labor in the black skin is branded."
