The DNA of European Jews shows they are very European and suggests many were converts from the days when Jews actively proselytized.

There's no moral obligation to change your name for any reason. The main reason to do it is to disconnect yourself from your past. In the US, Jews who changed their names often had fights with their families because it was seen as being ashamed of them.
