The only drive I could imagine it killing is the drive to have more than anyone else on the planet. If we had maximum income and you’re right, the people who achieved the maximum would quit working, fall below the maximum, and start again to regain their place at the top. But I suspect most people who got the maximum would be happy to keep doing what they like doing because income would max out but job satisfaction and the respect of their peers would not.
