The purpose of race is racism. To end racism, we must end race.

This happened in a 60 Minutes interview in 2005:

Mike Wallace: “So how do we end racism?”

Morgan Freeman: “Stop talking about it. I’m going to stop calling you a white man. And I’m going to ask you to stop calling me a black man. I know you as Mike Wallace. You know me as Morgan Freeman. You’re not going to say, ‘I know this white guy named Mike Wallace.’ Hear what I’m saying?”

James Baldwin took the same position much earlier:

“As long as you think you’re white, I’m going to be forced to think I’m black.” —James Baldwin

After he left the Nation of Islam, so did Malcolm X:

“I believe in recognizing every human being as a human being, neither white, black, brown nor red.” — Malcolm X

And, of course, so did King:

“I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” —Martin Luther King

Though many of the strongest advocates for dumping the idea of race into history’s dumpster are black, identitarians insist that rejecting race is only possible for people who have white privilege. To which I say, fine. White people invented the idea of white people after Bacon’s Rebellion. If…
