White people did not get reparations; slave owners did. Where slave owners were directly compensated, black and mixed-race slave owners would have been eligible too. I recently learned that the descendants of the US's richest black slave owner, William Ellison, are wealthy, just as you'd expect the descendants of rich white people to be.
