Why does a religion need a state? Should Mormons have their own nation?

If historic Palestine became an international land, Jews would be as free as anyone else to live and worship there.

To be very clear, I believe Israel has a right to exist. It was granted by the UN. Any land it wants outside of the UN borders should be negotiated with Palestine, which has an equal right to exist with its UN borders.
