Your concept of class is feudal. For socialists, the ruling class is the rich, the people who own the means of production, the people who live comfortable lives thanks to the things they own, the ones who guarantee that politicians serve them first and us second.

My wife and I have a small house in a working-class part of town. Our income puts us below the US’s poverty line. We can’t afford to travel anymore, but I’m not complaining. If we could get this country to pass universal health care and a decent form of basic income, I’d be content.
