You're leaving class out of your analysis. Black Americans are disproportionately working class, so that affects any race reductionist analysis of black life in the US. Surviving childbirth in the US is bad for all poor Americans.
Interestingly, black women now earn slightly more than white women of the same class, so for black women, being black is now an advantage. That's not the case for black men.
